I can't stop thinking, how did this take so long? It feels decades late...

Of all the monopolies this might be the most egregious and rightly most hated. There are surely more important things than tickets to shows but this is the poster child for what happens when competitors are squeezed out and one or two giant corporations take control of a market.

There is a fifth line of business that also needs to be stripped out — artist management. I have worked in both the concert promotion and artist mangagement markets. There is a direct conflict of interest in the vertical integration of concert promotion and artist management into the Live Nation / Ticketmaster market “stack”. Both artist management and concert promotion need to be broken out.

As the mother of a Swiftie, I got first hand experience with how Ticketmaster operates, and it was pretty obvious to me that they were the owners of the online scalping companies too, which is how they can cheat the artist out of money that they make on tickets. My daughter had a friend, who is not even into Swift, and he got 3 tickets and then sold them for $30,000. We could not get tickets after 3 days of trying non-stop for 8 hours on the first day and as long as it lasted on the next two and we were a group of 5 moms. It also seemed that the algorithm was only set up for young people who are super facile with technology. We would get tickets, and then could not pay for them. There were zero instructions on the website and things they said were lies. Even though I don't think I will be buying tickets like this for her again, it seems to me that everyone's lives will be improved by the break up of this monopoly if it is successful. Sell off its parts is what I say!

Do congress people laud crackdown on business and anti-monopoly news? Couldn’t some key senators/reps put some pressure on White House?

A spinoff of Ticketmaster and an end to exclusive contracts.

Absolutely love to see another monopolist going down, just sucks how we long have to wait. Tickets is not the biggest issue, but folks like the person you referenced at the end need help TODAY, like literally this second. Just sad we don't know how long it'll take, or if it'll ever come given Biden will probably get trounced in November.

That being said, I appreciate your work brother. On to the next.
